Welding inspection

Welding inspection ensures welded joints meet required levels of quality and are fit for purpose. A range of welding inspection techniques may be applied, depending on factors such as joint configuration, specific defects of interest, material type/thickness and whether in shop or on site.  Weld inspections are conducted for several reasons, the most common of which is to determine whether the weld is of suitable quality for its intended application. To evaluate the quality of a weld, the criteria to which you can compare the weld’s characteristics.  Imperfections within or adjacent the weld may prevent the weld from meeting its intended function. Therefore, areas of the weld where the thickness has been changed by discontinuities, such as porosity or cracks, will appear as dark outlines on the film.Welding inspections are conducted for several reasons, the most common of which is to determine whether the weld is of suitable quality for its intended application. Our specialized welding inspectors are formally certified from international programs as CSWIP / AWS.

  • Many characteristics of a weld can be evaluated during welding inspection – some relating to weld size, and others relating to the presence of weld discontinuities.
WELDING qualfication/ certification

The capability of welders are evaluated by welder qualification to create sound welds adhering to industry standards/procedure, and to proceed with welder qualification.
